McDSP VST and VST3 plug-ins require Windows 7 or later, Mac OS 10.8.x or later, and support Cubase 7.x or later, Nuendo 6.5.x or later, and other VST and VST3 compatible DAWs. McDSP HD plug-ins also support the VENUE S3L and S6L live sound systems. For some Windows DAWs, 6.4.0.14 plug-ins may intermittently hang on load.
Founded in 1998 by Colin McDowell, McDSP make software for the Music Production, Live Sound, Post Production, Game Audio and iOS apps market. Now celebrating their 20th anniversary, McDSP continue to go from strength to strength – the SA-2 Dialog Processor plug-in recently won a prestigious Engineering Emmy award for Outstanding Achievement in Engineering Development – high praise indeed.
Back in ’98 the first plug-in to be released was FilterBank and whilst that continues to be an industry standard collection of EQs, McDSP now produce over 24 high-end audio software tools, many of which continue to receive high marks in various awards categories. Some highlights include CompressorBank – a compressor plug-in capable of emulating many vintage and classic compressors, MC2000 – the first multi-band compressor for Pro Tools, Channel G – the only channel strip plug-in with a customized UI for Avid ICON control surfaces and the AE400 – the first active EQ for the Avid HDX platform plus many more!
McDSP plug-ins are available individually or in various bundles – conveniently grouped plug-in collections that allow the user to save money. The vast majority are available in either HD or Native options; depending on the type of plug-in format your favourite DAW supports – choose HD versions if your favourite DAW supports AAX DSP/Native, AU or VST plug-in formats. If your system cannot handle AAX DSP then choose the Native format. McDSP plug-ins are compatible with Pro Tools, Pro Tools | HD, Logic X, Cubase, Nuendo, Ableton Live and a whole host of other DAWs that support AAX, AU or VST/VST3 plug-in formats. They require either an iLok 2 or iLok 3 for authorization and are supported on Mac OS 10.8.x through 10.13.x and Windows 7, 8 and 10.
